Absheron & Shahdili 2-Day Tour Plan
Day 1:
Morning: Begin your journey with a scenic drive from Baku to the Absheron Peninsula. Your first stop will be the Atashgah Fire Temple, an ancient Zoroastrian place of worship. This UNESCO-listed temple offers a glimpse into Azerbaijan’s ancient spiritual heritage and its unique connection to fire.
Midday: Head to the Gobustan National Park, known for its ancient petroglyphs and mud volcanoes. Gobustan's rock carvings, dating back to the Neolithic era, offer a fascinating insight into the history of the region. The mud volcanoes, which are unique to Azerbaijan, provide an otherworldly landscape.
Afternoon: Next, visit Mardakan Castle, one of the oldest fortresses in the Absheron region. This historical site offers beautiful views of the Caspian Sea and provides a look into the region's military history.
Evening: Check-in at a traditional guesthouse or hotel in the Absheron region. In the evening, enjoy a local dinner featuring Azerbaijani specialties, such as kebabs and plov (pilaf), before returning to your accommodation for a restful night.
Day 2:
Morning: After breakfast, begin your journey towards Shahdili village, a charming rural village located on the coast of the Caspian Sea. Shahdili is known for its traditional Azerbaijani lifestyle and serene environment. Wander through the village, explore its local markets, and interact with the friendly villagers.
Midday: Continue your exploration with a visit to the Shahdili Beach. The beach is an ideal spot to relax, enjoy the gentle sea breeze, and take in the beautiful views of the Caspian Sea. It’s perfect for a peaceful walk or a swim in the crystal-clear waters.
Afternoon: Take a leisurely stroll through the nearby Absheron Nature Reserve, where you’ll find diverse wildlife, including migratory birds and the unique plant species that thrive in this coastal ecosystem.
Late Afternoon: On your way back to Baku, make a final stop at the Lighthouse of Absheron, an iconic structure that has guided ships for centuries. The lighthouse offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes and the Caspian Sea.
Evening: Return to Baku, where the tour concludes. If you have time, you can explore the city's modern attractions or enjoy a traditional Azerbaijani tea in one of the local cafés.
What to Pack: Comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and a camera for capturing the region’s scenic beauty. If visiting the beach, pack swimwear and a towel.
