“CITY OF WINDS” TOUR| “Badi-Kuba”

Let`s firstly take a look what it means City Of Winds.. The City of Winds is an unofficial name of Baku city mainly because it is windy throughout most of the year. There are two kinds of wind  in Baku: cold and rough Khazry and mild and gentle Gilavar.

In this tour you will visit the main spots of Baku…and will discover ancient & modern Baku together while visiting Highland Park and see modern part of the city Flame Towers, Baku Boulevard, Carpet Museum, Heydar Aliyev Center & Old City..

• We will start our tour with the Highland Park which is the highest spot of the Baku. From the park, you will see the panorama of the city which you will be able to see major buildings like, Flame Towers, Parliament Building, State TV Channel Building and Broadcast Tower, Martyrs’ Lane, Chrystal Hall, National Flag Square and many more. You will be walking through the Martyrs’ Lane to the stairs called “40 Stairs” where your driver will pick you up.
• You will continue your tour with Old City Baku, the ancient part of Baku. From Double Gates, starting the tour you will be able to see the Chain, Sailor and Cat Houses, Bukhara & Multani Caravansarais, Juma Mosque, Maiden Tower. Guide will explain to you the history of the Old City, and its buildings mentioned above. After taking pictures in front of the Maiden Tower you will proceed to Visit the Miniature Book Museum (if it is open), the biggest miniature book collection on earth that has a book which thickness of 0.75mm and consist of 22 Pages.
• Next Destination in the Old City will be the Shirvanshahs’ Palace. Inside the complex you will visit the Main Building of the Palace, Palace Mosque, Divankhana, the Mausoleum of Seyid Yahya Bakuvi , Family Mausoleum, Murad Gate, Water Reservoir and the remnants of a Bath House, Hamam.The Complex of Shirvanshah`s Palace together with the Virgin Tower/ Maiden Tower forms an ensemble of historic monuments inscribed under the UNESCO`s World Heritage List of Historical Monuments. From the Palace you will be ending up in the Double Gates again.
• You will proceed to Baku city tour with Nizami Street. You will have 20 minutes to walk to see the beauty of the most central street of the Baku with full of shops and nice restaurants. You will also be able to see the Fountain Square full of magical fountains.
• At the end of tour will will have a photo stop on Heydar Aliyev Center, designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadidi and noted for its distinctive architecture and flowing, curved style that eschews sharp angles The building was nominated for awards in 2013 at both the World Architecture Festival. In 2014, Heydar Aliyev Center won Design of the Year Award of the Design Museum 2014. This makes Zaha Hadidi the first woman to win the top prize in that competition. Today, on the territory of an amazing alien building there is an auditorium (congress center), the Museum of them. Heydar Aliyev, exhibition halls, restaurant, cafe, and administrative offices. If you delve into the sense of creativity of the inimitable Zaha Hadidi, you can see exactly how the architecture of the building embodies her ideas. Representing a wave-like aspiration upwards and a smooth fusion with the earth, the cultural center personifies not only the postmodernist style of the maestro but also infinity, symbolizing the connection of the past with the future.
