Beshbarmag Mountain literally translated as Five Finger, is in Siazan District of Azerbaijan, not far from the Caspian Sea. It rises to 382 m (1,253 ft) above the sea level overlooking the Baku-Quba Highway. The mountain is a solid rock and is one of the most famous mountains in the Caucasus, known for its mythical stories. It is a sacred place for regular visitation by pilgrims. Tide marks on the mount attest to meltwater inundation from the northern glacial ice caps and date back to the end of the last ice age. The tidelines confirm the theory of a Holocene outflow of meltwater from the Black Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, rather than a direct incursion of sea water into the Black Sea as a result of global sea level rise. Estimates of the increase in Caspian Sea level height are between + 20 and 30 m
Candy Cane Mountain- Khizi Mountains is located in the Khizi District of Azerbaijan. The district has a remarkable variety of landscapes. On the flat Caspian coast, there are irrigated cattle and chicken-breeding lowlands around Shurabad. West of Giläzi, the Xızı road climbs gently through stripily colored semi-desert landscapes known as the Candy Cane Mountains. Around 10 km west of Xızı town, the green, heavily forested hills around Alti Agach which has been declared an Altyaghach National Park. Today We will discover that candy cane, popular Khizi mountains. The Candy Cane Mountainsare the part of the Greater Caucasus mountain range. The Candy Cane Mountains were originally dubbed so by travel writer Mark Elliott in his guidebook ‘Azerbaijan with Excursions to Georgia’. The mountains’ colors are produced by groundwater that has altered the oxidation state of the iron compounds in the earth. The Candy Cane Mountains contain numerous belemnites from the Cretaceous period.

Incredible hiking journey
I’ve been on many hikes around the world, but this one stands out as truly exceptional. The Beshbarmag Mountain, with its mystical feel, was awe-inspiring. Khizi’s Candy Cane Mountains were even more mesmerizing, with the unique colors of the land that looked like something from another world. Amazing adventure🤍
This tour was a truly unforgettable experience! The landscapes were absolutely stunning, and Ali’s passion for the region was evident from the start. His knowledge about the history, geology, and myths of Beshbarmag Mountain added depth to the experience. The hike itself was challenging but incredibly rewarding, especially with Ali’s guidance. I was blown away by the colorful beauty of the Khizi Mountains, especially the stripes in the terrain that looked like a natural painting. Colorful mountain exploration
If you're an adventure enthusiast, this is the tour for you! The hike through Beshbarmag Mountain was an adrenaline rush, and the mountain's mystical allure added to the excitement. The Khizi Mountains, especially the Candy Cane peaks, were an absolute highlight. The rainbow-like colors of the mountains made for stunning photo opportunities, and I had a blast exploring this unique landscape. Mountain journey
What an epic tour! The Beshbarmag Mountain was challenging, but the views and the adventure were worth every step. Fuad’s guidance was exceptional – he ensured we had a smooth and safe experience, even during the most challenging parts of the climb. His knowledge of the area’s history, myths, and geology really enriched the experience. The second part of the tour, through the Khizi Mountains, was just as amazing. The Candy Cane Mountains are like nothing I've ever seen, with their vibrant colors and unique landscape. I had so much fun exploring and capturing photos of these incredible natural formations. Mountain adventures
This was an unforgettable experience! The Beshbarmag Mountain's rugged landscape was a true challenge, and the spiritual aura of the area was incredible. Our guide Ali was incredibly knowledgeable, making the whole experience more engaging with his insightful stories about the history and mythology surrounding the mountain. We also visited the colorful Khizi Mountains, which were nothing short of breathtaking. The stunning colors of the Candy Cane Mountains were unlike anything I had ever seen. Ali's passion for his country's natural beauty was contagious, and it made the journey even more enjoyable. The hike was definitely for adventure lovers, with plenty of rock climbing and steep ascents, but Ali ensured that we were safe at every step.
