๐Ÿ“ Shamakhi Juma Mosque

On the way to Sheki, your first stop will be at Shamakhi Juma Mosque, the oldest mosque in the Caucasus, built in the 8th century. This historical site is a perfect introduction to Azerbaijan's rich Islamic architecture.

๐Ÿ“ Arrival in Sheki & Visit to Upper Caravanserai

Upon arrival in Sheki, you’ll explore the Upper Caravanserai, an impressive 18th-century stone-built complex that once served as a resting place for Silk Road traders. Part of this majestic building now operates as a boutique hotel.

๐Ÿ“ Sheki Khans Palace

Continue your Sheki sightseeing tour with a visit to the famous Sheki Khans Palace, a masterpiece of 18th-century architecture. The palace was built without a single nail and features vibrant stained-glass windows (shebeke), elaborate frescoes, and a symmetrical garden once filled with tall Italian poplars. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Azerbaijan’s most iconic landmarks.

๐Ÿ“ Sheki Fortress Walls

Right near the palace, remains of the fortress walls of Sheki still stand, offering a glimpse into the city’s defensive past.

๐Ÿ“ Sheki Historical Museum

Among the many historical places in Sheki, Azerbaijan, the Sheki Historical Museum offers a fascinating look at the city’s legacy in trade, craftsmanship, and silk production.

๐Ÿ“ House of Handicrafts

As part of your day trip to Sheki, the next destination is the House of Handicrafts, where local artisans produce beautiful handmade items such as stained glass (shebeke), pottery, embroidery, and wooden artwork. Prices are very reasonable, and you’ll have the opportunity to take home a unique souvenir that reflects the spirit of Sheki’s traditional craftsmanship.

๐Ÿ“ Shebeke Workshop & Sweet Shops

Explore Sheki by witnessing how traditional “shebeke” stained-glass windows are crafted using wood and colored glass — all without a single drop of glue or a single nail. You’ll also stop by the city’s famous pastry shops to try Sheki sweets like Sheki halva and piti.

๐Ÿ“ Sheki Bazaar

Your private Sheki tour continues at the local bazaar, where you can browse and buy fresh mountain honey, locally grown nuts, dried fruits, and traditional herbal teas.

๐Ÿ“ Kish Village & Albanian Church

The final stop of your full-day Sheki city tour is Kish village, located just 12 km from Sheki. You’ll visit the ancient Albanian Church (1st–4th century), believed to be the first Christian church in the Caucasus, founded by the Apostle Elisha. history and culture of Sheki

I recently took the Sheki tour with GuidedAzerbaijan and it was an unforgettable experience! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and made sure we saw the best of Shekiโ€™s rich history and culture. The Sheki Khans Palace was absolutely stunning with its intricate designs and beautiful stained-glass windows. We also had the chance to shop at the Sheki bazar, where we found delicious honey and local sweets.

Fascinating air and great history

Very enjoyable and fascinating. We had a tour guide Fuad for some of it and it was interesting learning the history. He was very funny and informative. During the tours we seperated special time for specific taste of Sheki. We had Piti meal together. It was amazing and wonderful experience for us. Me and my husband loved everything with Fuad. Highly recommended! sandranaime October 6, 2018

Wonderful tour with able guides

We took a 2 day road trip to Sheki & Gabala with Fuad...he made the long journey so much fun with his knowledge and sense of humour, interspersed with personal anecdotes. Came to know so much about Azerbaijan -past & present. Sheki & the Khan palace are not to be missed if one is interested in medieval history. We would definitely recommend Guided Azerbaijan to anyone who's going to this fascinating country. najmasanai March 12, 2019

Wonderful Sheki Tour

During my visit to Azerbaijan with my friends, I decided to go to Sheki as well. Sheki is a small town and honestly not one of my favourite during my Caucasian trip. But here is the Sheki Kahn's palace was definitely weird and elegant architecture for visit if you stop in town. It is beautifully well decorated and well preserved. A tour guide was amazingly informative. He explained the everything very well and with fun. Tom.Locc November 12, 2019
