📍 Heydar Aliyev Center

One of the most iconic buildings in Baku, the Heydar Aliyev Center is a must-see for architecture lovers. Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, this fluid, futuristic structure reflects traditional Azerbaijan design blended with modern aesthetics. Opened in 2012, it houses exhibitions dedicated to Azerbaijani history, culture, science, and the life of national leader Heydar Aliyev. You’ll also see works by global artists like Anish Kapoor and Yayoi Kusama.

📍 National Museum of History of Azerbaijan

Located in a former oil baron’s mansion, this is the largest historical museum in Baku. The building, designed by Polish architect Józef Gosławski, showcases over 2,000 artifacts across four floors. Explore exhibitions on modern and medieval Azerbaijan, ethnography, and numismatics. A highlight for anyone interested in Azerbaijani history and architecture, especially those searching for educational tours in Baku.

📍 Museum of Modern Art

This museum is a must for art lovers and those exploring modern Baku culture. Founded by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and opened in 2009, it features contemporary Azerbaijani and international artists. With an open-space concept designed by Jean Nouvel, the museum’s innovative layout avoids traditional corridors, creating a flowing, immersive experience - perfect for a Baku art and culture tour.

📍 Azerbaijan Carpet Museum

The Carpet Museum in Baku offers a deep dive into the ancient art of Azerbaijani carpet weaving. Founded in 1967 and moved to its iconic seafront location near Baku Boulevard in 2014, it showcases traditional rugs, kilims, and weaving techniques. It is the largest collection of Azerbaijani carpets in the world and a UNESCO-recognized cultural treasure - a must-see for anyone exploring traditional crafts in Baku.

📍 Palace of the Shirvanshahs

Located in Baku Old City (Icherisheher), this 15th-century palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important historical landmarks in Azerbaijan. The complex includes the main palace, a mosque, mausoleums, bathhouse ruins, and the famous Divankhana. A must-see for those interested in medieval architecture in Baku and Islamic history, and one of the top UNESCO sites in Baku.

📍 Miniature Book Museum

Unique and charming, the Miniature Book Museum is the only one of its kind in the world. Located inside the Old City, it has been operating since 2002 and was awarded a Guinness World Record in 2015. The museum contains over 5,500 miniature books from around 70 countries, making it one of the most interesting hidden gems in Baku and a highlight for anyone exploring unique museums in Baku.
