Palace of Sheki Khans

The Palace of the Sheki Khans, located in the city of Sheki, Azerbaijan, is one of the most remarkable monuments of 18th-century Azerbaijani architecture. Built in 1762 as the summer residence of the Sheki Khans, the palace is situated within the walls of the Sheki Fortress, at the foothills of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. It is famed for its breathtaking design, particularly its colorful shebeke stained-glass windows, intricate wooden carvings, and detailed wall paintings that depict scenes of hunting, flora, and geometric patterns. The two-story building was constructed without the use of nails, showcasing the region’s advanced craftsmanship.

The Palace of the Sheki Khans is part of the Historic Centre of Sheki, which was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019.
